Quick Wholemeal Scones

Pre-heat oven to: 200°C/400°F/Gas 6
Time in oven: 10 minutes
Makes: 10-12


1 lb/450g S.R. wholemeal flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tblsp granulated sugar
2 tblsp oil, or melted butter
milk to mix


1. Mix together flour, baking powder, sugar and oil with enough milk to form a soft dough.
2. Turn dough on to floured surface and flatten by hand until 1″/2.5cm thick.
3. Use pastry cutter or small cup to press out circles of dough.
4. Place on floured baking tray and bake until well risen and brown. Cool on wire rack.
