Pork Chops In Cider


1 large onion, sliced
3 apples, peeled and sliced
4 pork chops or fillets
salt and pepper
1/4 pt (150ml) cider or apple juice
3 oz (75g) breadcrumbs
3 oz (75g) cheese, grated


1. Place onion and apple in layers in ovenproof dish.
2. Arrange chops on top, season and pour over cider.
3. Mix together breadcrumbs and cheese and spread over dish.
4. Cover and bake in a pre-heated oven 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 for 11/2 hours, removing cover for last 30 minutes to brown.
