Meat sauce:
1 lb (450g) mince
1 onion, chopped
14 oz (400g) can chopped tomatoes
1 tblsp tomato purée
1 clove garlic
1 tsp basil
salt and pepper

White sauce:
2 oz (50g) butter
2 oz (50g) plain flour
1 pt (600ml) milk

lasagne sheets
parmesan cheese


1. Combine all ingredients for meat sauce and simmer for 30 minutes.
2. Melt butter, add flour, add milk slowly, cook until thick and smooth.
3. In a square dish, arrange layers of meat sauce, lasagne and white sauce finishing with white sauce.
4. Sprinkle cheese generously on top and cook in a pre-heated oven at 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 for 30 minutes.
