Italian Pasta Bake


8 oz (225g) penne pasta (quills)
10 oz (275g) ham, cut into strips
3 eggs, beaten
3/4 pt (425ml) single cream
salt and pepper
5 oz (150g) Gruyère cheese, grated
2 oz (50g) parmesan cheese, grated


1. Boil pasta in salted water until just tender (approx 9 minutes), then drain.
2. Add ham and transfer to greased baking dish.
3. Beat together eggs and cream, add half the Gruyére cheese, season and pour over pasta.
4. Top with remaining cheeses and bake in a pre-heated oven at 190°C/375°F/Gas 5 until golden (approx 40 minutes).
