Ginger Oaties


8 oz (225g) margarine
1 level tblsp syrup
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda dissolved in 1 tblsp boiling water
2 cups sugar
2 cups S. R. flour
2 cups porridge oats
2 tsp ginger (optional)


1. Melt margarine and syrup and stir in all other ingredients.
2. Place in heaps on a greased baking tray.
3. Bake in a pre-heated oven 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 for 15 minutes.
