Flapjacks (2)

Pre-heat oven to: 170°C/325°F/Gas 3
Time in oven: 15-20 minutes
Makes: 24 squares


5 oz/150g margarine
5 oz/150g muscovado sugar
½ tsp vanilla essence
6 oz/175g porridge oats
2 oz/50g oatmeal
2 oz/50g dates, optional
2 oz/50g wholemeal flour


1. Beat margarine, sugar and vanilla essence together.
2. Mix in oats, oatmeal, dates and wholemeal flour.
3. Press into a greased 7″ x 11″/18cm x 28cm baking tray and bake.
4. Take out of oven and cut into squares. Leave to cool in tin.
