Pre-heat oven to: 180°C/350°F/Gas 4
Time in oven: 15-20 minutes
4 oz/110g margarine
6 oz/175g demerara sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 oz/50g currants
8 oz/225g S.R. flour
1. Melt margarine and add to sugar and egg, leaving enough to paint top of buns.
2. Add currants and flour to make a firm dough.
3. Roll into 18 balls and flatten.
4. Paint top of buns with egg mixture.
5. Bake until golden brown.
6. Enjoy with a mug of coffee!
