Cheesey Garlic Potatoes


2 lb (900g) potatoes, thinly sliced
4 oz (100g) Swiss Gruyère cheese, grated
1 or 2 cloves garlic, crushed
salt and pepper
2 oz (50g) butter
1/2 pt (300ml) milk


1. Rinse potatoes well in water.
2. Mix cheese and garlic.
3. Layer potato slices and cheese mixture in a shallow, greased baking dish, sprinkling each layer with seasoning and dots of butter.
4. Heat milk to boiling point and pour into dish down the sides.
5. Cook in a pre-heated oven 200°C/400°F/Gas 6 for 45-55 minutes until the top is well browned.
Note: Cheddar cheese may also be used to make this tasty snack meal.
