Banana and Flake Trifle 

Serves: 6


4 oz/110g plain, white or milk chocolate
4 oz/400g tub or home-made custard
½ pt/300ml double cream, softly whipped
4 small bananas
2 tsp lemon juice
4 large Cadbury’s Flakes, roughly chopped


1. Melt chocolate in bowl set over pan of simmering water.
2. Stir custard into half of melted chocolate and set aside.
3. Beat a little cream into remaining melted chocolate and carefully fold in remaining cream.
4. Peel and slice bananas. Toss in lemon juice to prevent browning.
5. Place Flakes in a serving dish, reserving some for decoration.
6. Cover with half of banana slices, then spoon over half of chocolate custard.
7. Cover with remaining banana slices and chocolate custard.
8. Spoon chocolate cream over in large blobs. Sprinkle with reserved flakes.
