Apple Crumble Shorties


3 oz (75g) butter
3 oz (75g) caster sugar
8 oz (225g) plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
3 oz (75g) ground almonds
1 egg, beaten

3 apples, peeled and chopped
14 oz (400g) tin Cherry Pie Filling
icing sugar to dust


1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add flour, baking powder and ground almonds.
3. Beat in egg until large crumbs form.
4. Spoon half the mixture into a lightly greased, loose-based tin and press down.
5. Mix apples with pie filling and spread over base.
6. Using fingertips rub the remaining crumbs until finer and sprinkle over filling.
7. Bake in a pre-heated oven 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Dust with icing sugar and serve hot or cold with cream.
