Dumisani Theological Institute and Bible School

Dumisani Theological Institute and Bible School (DTI) was established in 1979 to train preachers of the planted churches in the Eastern Cape, an area of South Africa, with historic and ongoing ties to the Free Church. Presently, there are students from far and wide in the Eastern Cape, some South African provinces and beyond the borders of South Africa. In this area 92% of pastors are ordained without any theological training and Dumisani are working to address this.

Dumisani welcomes students from different denominations, which allows the truth of the gospel to be taught across denominations. They offer part-time and full-time study options for pastors and Christians who want to improve their theological understanding. Some students relocate to study at Dumisani as their hometown is far away. Dumisani have recently developed additional accommodation and are trying to address the need to provide meals for the students.

Funds raised will go towards bursaries for students from denominations with training needs who cannot afford tuition. Funds will also help to pay for student accommodation, meals and library books.

Free Church Support Fund

The Free Church of Scotland has a long-term vision to have a Healthy Gospel Church for every community in Scotland – a vision wholeheartedly shared by Women for Mission. For this to become a reality, existing churches must be strengthened, new churches planted, church leaders trained and the next generation equipped.

We currently have two funds available to Free Church congregations: Heart for Home (for practical needs and events) and Support a Volunteer (travel for short-term mission). Funds from Joined for Joy will top up these initiatives, enabling WfM to continue to support work.

In addition to this, following support requests from the Centre for Rural Ministry and the Youth Conference, we have decided to raise funds to support the vision of growing the reach of Jesus in Scotland. Through this fund, we hope to provide small grants for events and initiatives that will strengthen churches, bless communities, and support congregations seeking to share the good news of God’s love.

Free Church Youth Camps run week-long holidays where young people can build lifelong friendships, take part in fun activities and get to know Jesus. The camps have been running since 1960 and, through the camps, thousands of lives have been positively impacted by the Word of God.

Each camp is packed with fun, friends and great food with campers enjoying a mix of activities, games and Bible talks. Camps are led by a dedicated team of servant-hearted volunteer leaders and cooks who are passionate about sharing the Gospel with young people in a relaxed and informal way. There is a strong focus on Biblical teaching and fun!

Funds raised will go towards the cost of running Free Church Youth Camps and will provide opportunities for more children to attend camps as well as widen the camps’ options for activities.

The Gambia Partnership

The Gambia Partnership works with Gambian Christians and churches, aiming to make Christ known in a country where there is a small minority of believers. They distribute materials in local languages and support regular fellowship and Bible studies run by local partners. In addition, they undertake educational support, child sponsorship and practical aid projects where needs arise.

Currently, they are reaching young people through multimedia ministry to provide them with God’s word in accessible formats, such as films and podcasts.

They are also working with young women from school age and upwards who face early marriages or difficult situations due to lack of opportunity or skills training. The Gambia Partnership hopes to employ a worker for two years to establish a programme, running enterprise workshops, facilitating start up businesses, alongside discipleship and training. They would identify young women in need and find positive solutions for an estimated 50 families over the period. The Gambia is a micro-enterprise country and Christian women face poverty, unemployment and persecution. Through this support, they can empower women to spiritually and economically transform families, communities, and future generations.

Funds raised will go towards developing the Gambia Partnerships women’s employability and discipleship programme and assist the development of their multimedia ministry.
