Donation to Gaza and Middle East Appeal

There is ongoing destruction and despair in Gaza as well as widespread famine. The recent news of a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas is a step in the right direction but, without increased and consistent aid to Gaza, lives will continue to be lost.

Women for Mission have donated £2,000 to Tearfund’s Gaza and Middle East Fund. Using this donation, their partners are able to supply life-saving aid to those in need and are ready to increase this supply as soon as supplies are free-flowing.

Tearfund is calling for a lasting ceasefire, for Israel to allow a flood of aid to freely enter Gaza, and for hostages to be allowed home.

Visit Tearfund’s website for more information. They have given an overview of the devastating situation.

“The suffering across the region has devastated lives.

  • More than 67,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and over 160,000 have been injured.
  • More than half a million people – almost a quarter of the whole population of Gaza – are now in famine, with a very real risk of starving to death.
  • More than one in three people go without food for days at a time, and 86 per cent of households regularly don’t have any food.
  • In Gaza, more than 54,600 children are now acutely malnourished and face increased risk of death if untreated.
  • More than 540 humanitarian workers and 240 journalists have been killed.
  • In Gaza, more than 1.9 million people have been forced to flee their homes, and many have been displaced repeatedly.”

What can you do?

Looking at these numbers, it’s so difficult to know how to respond but there are ways that we can help:

  • You can donate further to the appeal.
  • You can pray. Tearfund have put together resources on how to pray for Gaza and the Middle East. You can show God’s love to people in the Middle East by lifting them up in prayer, on your own or with your church.
