On the sunny afternoon of Saturday 17th May 2025, the Women for Mission committee welcomed participants to Grace Church Leith for the Annual Get Together.
It was a joy to meet in the capital for a great time of fellowship and connection as well as to hear from partners in the Gospel, including some who have been supported by WfM in the past or will be in the year ahead.
We launched our new project Flourish which will support Junction 12 (Glasgow), The Mamie Martin Fund (Malawi) and Free Church Youth Camps and Christ the Redeemer Presbyterian Church (Krakov).
Reports & Speakers
After opening the meeting with a time of worship and with the singing ably led by Catherine Joan MacDonald, reports were received about finances, our new project for 2025/26 and our two ongoing funds; Support a Volunteer and Heart For Home.
We then had the opportunity to hear from Catriona Lamont, the Project Manager of Edinburgh based ‘Sparkle Sisters’, an Edinburgh based charity which works with homeless women and and/or survivors of abuse. Alongside Catriona, Stacey gave her powerful testimony of how God worked in her life through Sparkle Sisters.
We also heard from Jennifer, who is working in South East Asia and, via video, we also heard from Caitriona who works in Asia.
Eilidh Murchison was the next speaker and she shared her trip to Jimbolia in Romania which was funded in part by WfM’s Support a Volunteer fund. With a team Eilidh helped renovate two teaching centres which are run by Blythswood.
There was to be a video from Amy Anderson about church planting which suffered a technical hitch so the meeting moved on to hear from Free Church Youth Camps, the Free Church Mission Director and the Director of the Centre for Rural Ministry.
Our chairperson Wilma also announced that the collection at the meeting had raised £506.50 and thanked all those who had donated. Catherine Joan then led the meeting in singing Psalm 100 before Wilma closed with prayer and grace.
Many thanks to Grace Church Leith for allowing us to use their fantastic space. We enjoyed a time of fellowship after concluding the formal part of our meeting, including seats out on the sun-soaked balcony – what a treat!Thank you to everyone who attended and continue to support the work of Women for Mission. Although our live stream didn’t work on the day, there is now a full recording of the meeting on our YouTube channel.
